From a young age, I was drawn to the power of stories and their ability
to shape societies, which inspired me to study journalism at Yarmouk
University. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and
Mass Communication in 2006, I began my media career as a news editor for
the Gulf Research Center’s well-known political and economic websites.
Those early years gave me a solid foundation in media analysis, content
creation, and effective communication.
Eager to expand my knowledge and make a broader impact, I pursued a
Master’s degree in Mass Communication at Arkansas State University. My
thesis focused on how Jordanian students interacted with blogs—a
groundbreaking study during a time when digital media was still
emerging. This experience sparked my interest in the intersection of
technology and media, paving the way for my Ph.D. journey at Michigan
State University, where I explored the complexities of digital
journalism and media psychology. My doctoral dissertation, which
compared crisis coverage by journalists and citizen bloggers in Egypt,
received recognition for its innovative approach and relevance to
society.
After completing my Ph.D., I returned to Jordan with a clear mission: to
help shape the next generation of journalists and media professionals. I
joined Yarmouk University as an Associate Professor, where I have spent
over a decade integrating teaching, research, and leadership to enhance
journalism education. My courses have included investigative
journalism, data journalism, and media ethics, reflecting my commitment
to equipping students with practical skills and a strong ethical
foundation.
Throughout my career, I have taken on leadership roles that have enabled
me to make a meaningful impact. As Chair of the Journalism Department
and later as Vice Dean of the College of Mass Communication, I have
advocated for innovative curriculum development, faculty mentorship, and
international collaboration. Additionally, I serve as the Director of
Public Relations at Yarmouk University.
